Did you know that in 1809, President James Madison made a serious attempt to establish a National Brewery?
He went so far as to enlist former President Thomas Jefferson’s help (you know: back when current and former Presidents would actually work TOGETHER). Part of this National Brewery would have been the appointment of a new cabinet level position for the President’s administration…
Secretary of Beer
Seriously? Are you kidding me?
Sadly Congress did not agree with him and the effort failed.
Showing that even back in 1809, Congress was filled with doting old fools, who wouldn’t know a great idea if it crawled up their rectum, worked it’s way up to their mouths, and shot out like a Roman Candle that exploded into the words “Great Idea” in multiple colors.
