|St Jude Radiothon '07|
March 23, 2007 from 3pm to 7pm, Cat Country was broadcasting live from the Diamond Run Mall for the "Grand Finale" of our St. Jude Radiothon!
When we first got there and were getting set up, our tote board was just at $10,822.....it certainly grew during the course of our broadcast!!
Our St Jude Volunteer, Bonnie from Granville, New York, helped by setting up the quilts and keeping track of all the bids that came in.
While we were busy at the Diamond Run Mall, we had volunteers back at our studios answering phones.
Ken checked out the guitar...just to make sure it worked...at least that's the excuse he gave us!!
Judy and DB from the morning show on Cat Country were also on hand for the broadcast.
The bunny ears behind DB's head were a nice touch so close to Easter...but I don't think DB noticed!
Quite the crowd was starting to gather....everyone was excited about the auction!
The Veysey family of Mount Holly stopped by to visit during our broadcast. Mom, Kristin, was kind enough to go on the air with us earlier in the day and tell the story of how St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has helped, and will continue to help, her daughter. Madeline and big brother Ben posed for a picutre with DB, too. We really appreciate them telling their story and stopping by to see us at the Diamond Run Mall. It really shows how there are people locally who are benefiting from our efforts to help St. Jude and we were especially happy to meet Madeline...I think she has become an inspiration for all of us.
We all had a great time at our broadcast....especially knowing we were helping out such a worthwhile cause as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The Stock Cars were at the Diamond Run Mall that weekend as well.....so JD just HAD to check those out! He even ran into a fan...Brandon...so they posed together for one of the shots.
Jennifer Joy, our St. Jude representative, was there to lend her support, pose with Ken, and keep us updated on what the total was up to.
We wanted to have a "Busy Bonnie" changing the tote board every time we got an update from Jennifer.
Toward the end of our broadcast...the auction was really heating up! There were two gentlemen left that were bidding against each other for the autographed guitar...........
and the winner was.........
Francis Lloyd of Ira! Thanks to Francis, our total grew by $1,100 in one shot - or should I say "bid"!
Some of the quilt winners pick up their items as Madeline looks on.
Our Grand Total is.....$15, 415.74. A great big "THANK YOU" to everyone who helped to make this event the success that it was!
