The World Cinema Series continues at The Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls, Thursday March 26th at 7pm with a FREE screening of the Hungarian film masterpiece, "The Round-Up" from influential filmmaker, Miklós Jancsó! Released 60 years ago this year (1966)!
Quite the film to say the least and I just recently discovered this essential film just a mere 6 years ago! So many filmmakers are influenced by this film because it literally redefined the historical drama! It focuses more on the study of how power functions rather than have a traditional story! This is not your traditional "war prison" film. This is an ant-war film that chooses to focus on the dehumanization and absurdities of war. even though the film is a period piece focusing on the failed 1848 Hungarian Revolution, Jancsó drops hints of the failed Hungarian uprising that occurred only ten years prior in 1956. If you're a fan of history, then you'll enjoy experiencing this film on the big screen!
